My Professional Background
My training and experience are not only somewhat unique but comprehensive and seasoned to be able to address your unique needs and concerns.
I am a Ph.D. licensed clinical psychologist in both Virginia and New Jersey.
I hold a special distinction of being Board Certified in counseling psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). This is a very special distinction as only 5% of eligible licensed psychologists are board certified! It denotes special competencies acquired through an organized sequence of formal education, training, and experience. You may wish to get further information about ABPP by going to: www.abpp.org.
Further, I have the distinction of holding two additional diplomates (which are additional certifications as a specialist by an examining board) in both Behavioral Medicine and Professional Counseling through the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Professional Counseling and Psychotherapy.
I also have formal training in medicine and nursing and have relatively recently, as part of a pilot program with the New Jersey Psychological Association, earned a BSN in Nursing and earned a RN. This training gives me even greater insight into the physical as well as the mental world of individuals and insures that all areas of the patient's problems and well-being are explored.

Academic and Clinical Domains
I am most fortunate to blend the clinical and academic domains in my professional life. I have an interesting blend as "practitioner-scholar" as evidenced by my clinical functioning in independent practice as well as having taught at both the graduate and undergraduate levels mindful of evidenced-based practice in psychology (EBPP).
In addition to treating patients in my private practice, I am able to teach and supervise both Master's and Doctoral level clinical psychology students in their quest for training and professional licensure at a variety of levels. Therefore, I have been blessed to have the best of both professional worlds: that of working clinically with patients as well as staying abreast of current research and practice that comes from the academic setting.
